Technologically less advanced folks are similarly plagued by rape,
cuckoldry, and similar reproductive 'crimes,' though some (I cite the
yanomamo) do not view these acts as 'criminal.' At least the wife
beating and rape. (Latin American machismo laws and old U.S. 'justified
homicide' rulings for jealous husbands come to mind.)
On the other hand, I'd bet that somewhere are cultures in which people
live in small groups and have sufficiently severe penalties for rape or
adultery that they are rarely risked.
