There is a great deal of information on sand paintings and Navajo healing.
Go to a university library and look up the work of Gladys Reichard,
Clyde, Kluckhohn, Alexander Leighton, and Leland Wyman. Perhaps the best
analysis of Navajo healing practices is by Topper in the 1987 volume of
the Journal of Psychoanalytic Anthropology.
