Critique of the Enlightenment Subject?

I understand that there is a big deal being made these days about the
Enlightenment Subject being a 'bad' thing--this came out in a class of
mine. I don't really understand the problem, though. Could someone
briefly outline the argument against such a subject--what are the dangers?
I've heard the question posed: Do assertions of agency run the risk of
falling into a conception of the Enlightenment Subject? I'm confused as
to what the 'danger' is, and why the E. S. is so bad. Any good literature
on this? What do people think about all this?
