social control, public opinion in traditional societies

Can anyone help?? I'm urgently searching literature on the subject
of public opinion processes (sociopsychological processes) in traditional
societies. How does society control the individual, what rules exist
unwritten law, what happens if one does not follow the rules? Isolation,
fear of isolation, how does public opinion change in traditional societies<
who can change it?
Any literature covering these subjects (psychological,anthropological...)
