You'provided plenty of help for me, and I thank you. I've archived your post,
since my darn printer is on the blink. My favorite type of sf stories are the
ones where there is a lot of character development and a well-thought out
culture. Even when I was writing fan Star Wars stories, I enjoyed creating my
own societies and aliens. They had to make sense to me before I would dump them
on anyone else. And, I thank writers such as Stanley Weinbaum (for the first
truly alien aliens that he created in the '30's) Ursula LeGuinn (for "Left Hand
of Darkness" and its 'bi-sexual' society) and several fantasy writers for their
human or animal societies.
I only hope that these books are still available.
