I must draw your attention to line 5 which I will translate from the Hebrew:
And called Godfor the light day (yom) and for the darkness he called night.
This is the first instance of the word (yom) day being used. And it refers to
a period that is on average 12 hours. So that it is simply incorrect to say
that when the word (yom) day is being used it always means a 24 hour period.
