Parallel Cousins vs Cross Cousins?

In one of Marvin Harris's books, he comments that there are
cultures which distinguish between "parallel cousins" and "cross
cousins." As a lay person, I am unfamiliar with these terms. If someone
who knows what distinguishes these two types of cousins could let me know
by e-mail I would appreciate it very much.
