Well, I am just an outsider, but, no I don't agree. Moderation
is not costless. First you must find someone who is willing to wade
through all the posts and decide on their academic value. This will
cost the victim psychic energy, and plus, he might start to take his
job seriously, and start to insert scholarly comments like "while
Mr. Conrad's post is technically on topic to sci.anthropology, the
reviewer felt the next 12.4 lines were of a speculative nature...

I am sure you see my point. One or two chronic abusers can better be
dealt with by a kill file.
