There is a huge literature. Best place to start would be to get a copy of
New Directions in Psychological Anthropology, by Theodore Schwartz,
Geoffrey M. White, and Catherine A. Lutz. It was published by Cambridge
University Press in 1994. From there, you can begin your own explorations
in any direction you see fit.
