The answer is an unequivocal "yes", and the question was whether or not a
pseudo-scientific "racial" construct (amerind, negroid, mongoloid, ...)
is offensive. One need not even necessarily be non-caucasiod to arrive at
this conclusion.

Now, could we do something other than pretend the 19th and most of the 20th
centuries didn't happen in anthropology and archaeology, particularly in the
New World and turn to something less dull and daft than sociobiology or the
variants thereof?

Jeeze, some days you'd think anthro was only about the cultures of slime
molds. Biological determinism has a real grip on what passes for thought,
and there is a _very_ non-critical view of the scientific method shown by
even the adherents of scientisms.
