What a lofty goal! How do you know that's what you're doing?

Aiding the progress of humanity, just differently than you. Actually, not
true - humanity will do what it wills, and this individual human will try
to make himself better. I'm not so full of hubris that I think I can change
the whole schmeer, and that smacks of social engineering. I don't care for
it.
