Definately Merida. But no car. You can get pretty much anywhere by bus.
Much cheaper and you get to meet people.
And it is beautiful and warm and the people are friendly. And then you
will fall in love and have to work there. It is my choice for places to do
field work. I have about 6 months of work so far and plan on sneaking back
in 96 for a few more months.
