underground societies: mole people

As a graduate of cultural anthropology I have always been
interested in cults and cabalist societies from the Davidian
Church to Templar priests. Recently at work (I am a line cook fitting
job for an anthropologist eh? Not.) I was discussing the stranger side of
human behavior and thinking, like UFO's, government implant conspiracies,
and the lot, and a friend mentioned a woman in New York city who
wrote a book on an underground (literally) society, called the Mole People.
Is there such a book? I'm having no luck in finding it. Is he pulling my
leg? Some one please help me --- Thanx
