Yeah, unbelievers call it hypothesis, believers call it theory.

For example, when the Standard Savannah Hypothesis (SSH) failed, the
disciples produced the Mosaic Savannah Hypothesis (MSH) :-)..

Why not? The best of them will win. In order to be the best
you can show that others are among the worst. In the social
sciences it gets done all the time. Look at all the attacks on
AAT.
