JDM. You recently quoted one part of one sentence of mine("let
everything with your name on it go unread"), urging it as proof of how
insufferably big-headed I am and how contemptuous of your own views. If
the quote had continued for only one more sentence, it would have
erased that impression, because the next sentence stressed that had I
not read your contributions the loss would have been mine. I am sure
you did not curtail the quote with any intention of misleading your
readers (as you ceaselessly accuse me of doing.) But it shows, doesn't
it, how easily people can get the wrong impression. We will both have
to be much more careful.
