The cave you mention is in fact a group of sites in a karstic system in
Northern-Central Spain, called Atapuerca. Human ocupations with lithic
industries and skelettal remains go back to about 800.000 years (TD
site). The pre-Neaderthals come from "Sima de los Huesos" site, with a
chronology around 250.000 y. The collection from Sima de los Huesos
largely outnumbers all the human remains of that type and period in the
rest of the world. You can find references looking for "Atapuerca"
