If we assume that there is Punctuated Equilibrium of some kind ,
then wouldn't those people who are physically or mentally gifted
in some area possible precursors to a new 'speciation' should the
proper environmental/social conditions alter radically? If so,
then yes, we are still capable of eveolving. However at this time
there is no requirement to force us to be thusly selected.
