AAT reconsidered... ATH (Aquatic/Terrestrial Humans)

Why can't all these "(semi) aquatic" phases of human evolution as given
by the AAT, be explained as evolutionary adaptions of man's
"specialist at being a generalist" nature? In that, maybe, all these
aquatic adaptations evolved after man's "split" from ape-dom, so that,
man could exploit both aquatic and terrestrial food sources.
