White et al. did not rename ramidus -- they provided a new genus name in
case one is needed later (obviously, they think it will, or they wouldn't
have bothered). They published the corregendum to make sure that THEIR
genus name has priority over any others that may be proposed.
Dryopithecus is also a potential African ape.
There are lots of fossils of non-human, non-hominoid primates. They
just don't make the popular press.
