Rob Prince asks about anthro sources on ethnicity. Most good recent stuff
is in the poli anth subfield, dealing with how ethnicity is negotiated
and manipulated. A good start is Abner Cohen's work on "retribalization"
also called ethnogenesis. Unfortunately, a lot of that work has
not filtered out into the larger fields where folks still assume that
"tribal" differences have always existed rather than being created to meet
contemporary political needs.
