University of South Carolina, Department of Anth, anticipates
appointment of a PhD linguistic anthropologist as tenure-track
Asst Professor starting fall 1996. Salary competitive. Teach
ing: intro to cultural anth, language and culture, as well as
more specialized undergrad & grad courses. Work with students on
field research. Should be well-grounded in contemp theory on
language as a social, cultural, and interactive phenomenon; also
actively involved in field research with demonstrated ability to
gather and analyze anth data. USC offers MA in anth and PhD in
linguistics; programs in Latin American, African, African-Ameri
can, Public Health & Women's Studies; Institute for Families in
