Mary Jackes

A student of mine and I are trying to locate Mary Jackes, who wrote
a master's thesis at University of New England (Australia) 1967 on a
comparison of joking relationships in three cultures. In an article
published in *Mankind* her address was given as Toronto, Canada.
After that the trail goes cold but possibly she is still in
anthropology, maybe in Canada. We would like to contact her about use
of material from her thesis and any further work she might have done
in this area: my student Murray Garde is just submitting a thesis on
Australian Aboriginal joking relationship language.
