Yo Matt. Yo ANTHRO-L'ers. I signed on not long ago... between this and
some of my other lists, I have barely the time to keep my mailbox from
blowing up, much less _contribute_. But nonetheless I have enjoyed much
of the discussion. (don't know how some of you folks do it...) I'd
probabaly have otherwise remained silent on this issue, but I felt I had
to let Matt hear some support here. Upon signing on, my first few
messages from this list were in the middle of some thread that involved
some head-butting between Jess-man and some other soul... I've since
watched in amazement as he has continued to display an apparent lack of
not only social skills, but of any understanding of why any of us are
here. I'd wager most people come to a list like this to hear and share in
some mutually enlightening discussion, where differences can be
accomodated-- even appreciated-- and all have something to learn from
somebody. Say, Matt, if somebody like this kept bugging you in person
with this kind of generally uncouth, monotonal rhetoric and uncalled-for
personal insults every time you tried to have a civil, mutually
enlightening discussion with someone, what would you do? I'd ignore them.

I expect most folks are sitting at their keyboard shaking their heads too,
Matt. You're not alone, anyway. The sting of feeling a poke at one's
personal pride, it seems, is only exaggerated by the knowledge that the
insult is stupid and unnecessary...
Anyway, Jesse, are you for real? I know you have something to contribute,
you might want to consider phrasing things so that people can get past
your attitude.
Or give us all a break and go yell at contestants on Jeopardy or
something. You can feel smart and tell them they're idiots and *they*
don't have the chutzpah to talk back.
