>From what I have gathered from CNN, the tunnel is in the same hill as the Al-Aqsa Mosque where
Mohammed ascended to heaven. According to Israelis, the tunnel is being widened to allow more tourists
in to the tunnel believed to be part of the route Jesus took carrying the cross. Netanyahu claims that the
tunnel is not under the temple, but sometime in the past when they tried to do something similar, at least
one building in the temple complex developed cracks in its foundation. This coupled with recent threats to
bomb the mosque created the furor, adding to the idea that Israel wants to take over the area to prevent
Palestinians from making East Jerusalem their new capital.

But that's just what I'm getting out of CNN...
