In late August 1995 I sent a message to the Museum-l
list about the theft of six regalia items (part of the
Lanham Collection of Native American Artifacts at Bemidji
State University) which were stolen while on loan for an
exhibition at the Bemidji Community Art Center.

The indian faculty at Bemidji State along with others
within the indian community have persisted in finding
and facilitating the return of four of the items: the
beaded vest, the dance apron, the beaded leggings and
beaded pipe bag. The items that are still missing are
a 36" deer hide with 5 beaded rosettes and a black
cotton woman's jingle dress with rhinestone pins on
each collar panel and olk Prince Albert can jingles.

We are of course very grateful for the returns and I want
to thank those of you who offered very helpful advice
and help with this situation. We have been told that
if we can be patient the remaining items will probably
be found and returned. In the meantime, if you have
information or questions about this theft you may contact
me at sskaul@vax1.bemidji.msus.edu.

Thank you,
