Symbolic Meaning of Epilepsy

There is a whole literature within the USA that goes from around 1900 to
1940 or so about the eugenic implications of epilepsy that you might
look into. Along with being labeled 'feebleminded', having epilepsy was
one of the prime considerations for eugenic sterilization in those fine
days of genetic social engineering. Alot of pretty strange stuff was written
- mostly by the medical profession - justifying the eugenic solution for
epileptics. You might find some interesting insights in the early medical
journals both national and regional.
