There is some research on this dilema in neurolinguistics, to my knowledge.
I have read some things of Damazi, a neurolinguist.
He suggested that first the right brain communicates with the left brain
first in processing information.

This research has interesting implications in education as it traditionally
places great value to massaging the left brain
underestimating at the same time the right side. I guess there is a
reason for having two sides of the brain.

In Zagreb (quite possibly now inParis) Petar Guberina who has been
working on such things for years (30), things that people now discover
and as they do not read French, they think they are the firs ones :-)

good luck
