About the new AA abstracts....they are lumped together on page
519-20..although as abstracts go, i wonder if we would accept such pithy
summaries from our students...this lot of abstracts reads like the
article summaries on the contents page of TIme or People....a rethink of
the formality of the abstracts is likely a good idea....

The overall tone of the editors intro struck me as a bit
higgledy-piggledy...we should all talk together but specific
disciplinary concerns can also be dismissed out of hand....i can't tell
if this is a call for more inclusive scholarship or some sort of left
over hippie plea for "come on people, let's get together and love one
another"...i await further evidence....

in general, it looks better...

some of the visuals are simply gratuitous or so obscure as to be
meaningless....[in particular the pics in the paper on rodney king are,
from a visual cues adding to the discussion perspective, really litle
more than showing off a very poor grasp of video frame grabbing technology]

in general, i don't think it reads better...and the opening pages are
just abit to quaint and insubstantial given the tedlock's huge hopes and
claims about revitalizing the journal....

the proof will be in whether volume 96:4 actually lives up to these
claims and hopes or is just more unfocussed pudding....

talofa,
dougl....
