Poodles, or cats, exploding in microwaves appears to be a variation on an
older "cat in the clothes drier" story. The cat in the microwave that
I've heard most frequently involves children who have bathed a cat and
want to dry it, put it in the microwave and create a messy explosion
instead. The cat in clothes drier, or in the washing machine, apparently
involves a woman, also involved in cleaning and drying a cat. It's very
interesting to see the movement from technologically incompetent female
to technologically incompetent juvenile, as the technology changes.
