City, Tokyo, or LA: I don't know about the first or the last, but
oxygen bars were popular in Tokyo, at least for a time in the late
1980s. The ones I encountered were in big department stores. I only
tried the experience once; perched on a stool at a counter as if you
were about to drink espresso, you inhaled oxygen instead. It wasn't
a particularly memorable experience, nitrous oxide at the dentist's
