Request for info on deceased professor

At the meetings in Washington, I discovered that a former professor of mine,
Dr. Virginia Lee Barnes Dean, had died. I have been looking for her for the
past five years as she inspired me to research female genital mutilation.
Perhaps this is a morbid request, but seeing as she died only two years after
I last saw her and to the best of my knowledge, she was not medically ill, I
want to know how and why she died. A woman familiar with her work told me she
committed suicide. I was out of academia when Dr. Barnes died, but if there
was anything published about her death in July of 1990, I would appreciate
the reference. Thank you.
