(Sorry, my first ever mailing to the list slipped out empty, but containing
a forgotten signature.) Anyway:
Im currently reading a monography by William H.Alkire: "Lamotrek atoll and
inter-island socioeconomic ties".(From Lamotrek atoll and neigbouring
islands in Western Carolines, Micronesia.) I do so in connection with a
work about organizational solutions to the challenges created by natural
and social environment. Do anyone know or have any opinions on the book and
works of the author? I'm specially looking for suggestions to reasons
and/or functions of the kinbased hierarchial organization of this islands.
The monograph is from 1965. Is there published anything more resent from
the area, specially concerning organizational changes (or the lack of them)
as reaction to modern impact?
