Inclusive Pronouns

I think that using "per" in place of his/her and even in place of he
and she is an elegant choice. Heather Young-Leslie mentioned this
one a couple of days ago, but I first came across it in Marge Piercy's
novel Woman_On_The_Edge_Of_Time. It worked really nicely there, and
by the end of the novel, I was actively using it. Unfortunately,
no one understood me, so I went back to using the more common words.

It would be really nice to be able to use it and be understood, though...
