On the AA.
Did you catch their statement about how they (Tedlocks) have done away
with blind peer review? I won't go into the whole argument, but I think
that the possibility of open review leads to greater stratification in
the discipline, Younger and less powerful scholars willhave a harder time
getting published, as will new and daring work. Older established
scholars will cruise through (who would want to criticize their work?).
Why are changes of such magnitude being made without public discussion?
My spouse has decided to cancel her AA subscription. I am still hanging
in the balance, though I was not encouraged by the 'upcoming issue"
feature in the newsletter.
