A LOUD 'AMEN' TO LIEF HENDRICKSEN ON THE MAY 22 FORWARDED MSG!

----------------------------Original message----------------------------

Looks like another version of a "chain letter". (I've not attached a
copy because that would be propagating it further!). . . .

BTW there was a message spread over the internet last Feb promoting
a group called the "American Purification Society" which listed goals
that were not nice. The message had a real name and email address.
It turned out to be a forgery, and the innocent person received
hundreds of flames. The sad part was that he received about a dozen
supporting messages.

Before we allow such net messages to carry us away on any such wave of
(well-warranted) offense, wouldn't it be well to try a little net communication
with or about the sources? The wave of (justifiable) indignation over these
gratuitous insults reminds me of some other rumor-transmission incidents.

Our first defense against paranoia must remain critical thinking and credible,
verifiable information. Our local authorities recently started marking fire
hydrants with blue reflectors in the nearby street pavements. But, before it
was fully explained in newspaper articles, some rumors were suggesting it was
all part of the scheme for UN forces to take over the country!
