Four reccommendations:

1. I second previously offered comments on Bohannon and Glaser.

2. Garbarino, Merwyn, 1983. _Sociocultural Theory in Anthropology_ .
Prospect Hts, IL: Waveland Press. 110pp. Clearly written history of
thought. Not a lot of depth.

3. Lett, James, 1987. _The Human Enterprise: A Critical Introduction to
Anthropological Theory_. London: Westview. ,177pp. Excellent
Kuhnian-style treatment of the history of anthropological thought. Also
accessible at the undergraduate level.

4. Stocking, George W., Jr,. 1987. _Victorian Anthropology_ New York:
Macmillan. 425pp. I couldn't resist the temptation to reccommend this,
but its really only useful for advanced undergrads (and beyond), as with
most of Stocking's works.

Cheers,
Matt
