Dear Colleagues:

At the request of a friend/colleague who does not have access to this list, I
am posting the following:

Call for Submissions:

A volume of original essays centered on The Great Famine in Ireland (1845-48)
is currently being planned. While it is inspired by the Famine and the
essays will be thematically related to that event, the volume is also
intended to deal with the Famine's implications and ramifications for the
course of socio-cultural history at home in Ireland and/or in the United
States.

This interdisciplinary volume is intended for use by scholars and other
specialists, with good potential for use in college and unviersity courses.
With that in mind, original contributions are welcome from scholars and
researchers in the fields of American studies, anthropology, English
literature, ethnomusicology, folklore & mythology, history, Irish studies,
relgious studies, sociology, and theater arts. (Serious submissions from
other relevant fields of study will also be considered.)

All submissions will receive a reply as to their suitability for the project.
Due to mailing costs no manuscripts will be returned to authors.
Manuscripts should be jargon free and previously unpublished. Ideally, they
should be available on disc as well as in hard copy. A stylesheet is
available upon request.

A major university press has expressed strong interest in considering the
volume for publication. Contributors should contract Dr. Arthur Gribben, The
Union Institute, College of Undergraduate Studies, 6310 Sna Vincente Blvd.,
Suite 107, Los Angeles, CA 90049; email to agribbe@eis.Calstate.edu.

End of request: please feel free to post this to other lists. Thanks.
