proposal for an ethnology lab focusing on the Pacific Rim to include in
Western's capital campaign. I would like your suggestions, as utterly
specific as you can make them with regard to names, manufacturers, prices,
on possible furnishings. What should such a lab, to be used to teach a
thousand introductory students a year, about 150 undergraduate majors, and
15 MA students, and for faculty research in an eight person anthropology
department, contain? Materials useful to all, or any separately, of the
four subdisciplines is ideal. Let's start with a budget of $250,000,
(although $50-75,000 seems more plausible to me). I will pretend we can
get the space to put in it anything we can get....
Of course you can e-mail me directly, but I think (hope) everyone who
only reads this bulletin board would probably enjoy the exercise as well.
Thank you in advance for your advice, and your consideration.
