You can give graduate students teaching experience by running an intro
anthro course with two lectures and one lab/discussion section per week.
The graduate students lead the latter. They get to control their own
class, develop materials for the discussion etc. We do this at SMU and it
is a good compromise re the critique of faculty not teaching on the one
hand and graduate students getting no teaching experience on the other.
