"Meaning is my business"?

Please, "Making Symbols is My Business"; the extent to which they are
meaningful is, of course, problematic. Allow me to add one further note
on the subject of "culture"--not a theory, an image that popped into my
skull as a line of something like poetry several months ago and stuck. Could
it be, my God, a meme?
We are spiders caught in webs of meaning we ourselves weave.
One way of looking at what we strive to do is free ourselves just enough
to weave bigger, more elegant webs to catch other less wary folk. Hmnnnn....
And what shall we make of the arthropoid imagery? Any suggestions.....?
