The American Society of Primatologists is reviewing its guidelines for
ethical research. One issue that needs to be addressed is that of
relations with indigenous peoples when conducting field research. In this
research it is NOT the indigneous people themselves, but the plants,
animals and other parts of their habitat that is the subject of study;
however, we recognize that these studies often can/do have an impact on
indigenous peoples.

Anyone with any existing guidelines, ideas, suggestions, directions, should
contact me. The first organizational meeting of the subcommittee will
probably happen in late July.
