I have to agree with Danny Yee about publishing for people outside of the
profession (my great-aunt and uncle still think I want to go to Africa to
dig up old bones even though I'm in cultural anthropology; my parents are
simply confused about the whole thing). The last anthropologist I hear
of who wrote for the public-at-large was Margaret Mead for Redbook.
National Geographic has some articles, but the authors are usually
considered more geographers than anthropologists. For greater publicity,
we need people, specifically identified as anthropologists, writing
articles for amateurs.
