** Study "Alternative Medicine in Cuba" with Global Exchange

July 8 - 18, 1994

** Still Room Left! Call 1-800-GXS-1994 immediately for more information.

The economic crisis in Cuba has intensified the search for cost-effective
alternatives to traditional social, health and production programs. The
changes are especially evident in agriculture and health, where alternative
medicine and organic farming have increased. Global Exchange will lead an
educational delegation to Cuba to study the shift to non-conventional health
programs.

% Observe the increasing use of acupuncture and herbal medicine
% Learn how the economic crisis propels Cuba to experiment with organic
farming, the use of bicycles and green technology.
% Meet with health workers and Ministry of Health Officials
% Discuss Cuba's AIDS policy and meet with medical specialists
% Visit clinics, hospitals, day-care centers and a psychiatric treatment
center.

Global Exchange, a non-profit organization based in San Francisco, was founded
in 1988 to facilitate people-to-people ties between the First and the Third
World. "Our tours attract people interested in something out of the ordinary,"
explained Medea Benjamin, Co-Director of Global Exchange. "Participants walk
away from our trips with a deep sense of interconnectedness with individuals
from a different culture."
