Yes, the San have steatopygia, but I think it is just a racial trait without
any known adaptive significance. (The San are one of the few peoples on
earth who probably do consitute a race in the biological sense). Take a
look at any of the books of Richard Lee, especially Men, Women, and Work in
a Foraging Society, in which he discusses San anatomy and physiology, thanks
to medical researchers on the Harvard San Project.
