Kendra,
try the Encyclopedia of Religion, especially the articles on "Tibetan
Religions," the "Dalai Lama," and the "Buddhism" article, which has a
subsection on Buddhism in Tibet.
The Dalai Lama also has a number of books out on Tibetan religion and Snow Lion
Press publishes lots of books on the topic.
