subscription information with me. It's nice to know that a lot of
colleagues I've met/corresponded with in other contexts are also on the
list.

I'd like to briefly introduce myself to those of you I haven't yet
had the opportunity to meet. I'm a cultural anthropologist, graduated from
UCLA in 1992, whose topical interests include shamanism, anthro. of
religion, gender, medical anthropology, ethnohistory, and several
areas/topics besides (like the profession itself, my interests seem to
expand and cross-over into new realms and new disciplines with every
passing year). I've recently taken a tenure-track position at Utah State
University in Logan, UT, and am enjoying both the University, my colleagues
here, and the surrounding BEAUTIFUL countryside.

I have done extensive research in northern Peru and am headed off
to do some ethnohistorical research in Spain in a couple of months. I
consider myself a "Latin Americanist" even though I haven't yet had the
opportunity to do extensive research in other L.A. countries.

Currently, I'm revising my dissertation manuscript-on gender
differences in shamanic healing philosophy and practice among male and
female shamans in northern Peru-for publication with UNM press. I'm also
researching the impact of the Colonial church in Northern Peru on
perception and practice of female healers during the colonial period-hence
the trip to Spain. If anyone out there in cyberspace has done research at
either the Archivo General de Indias in Sevilla or the Archivo Historico
Nacional in Madrid, I'd love to hear about your experiences re: work
environments there.

Looking forward to talking with you!
