JOB OPPORTUNITY

ASSOCIATE OR ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ANTHROPOLOGY

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Al Akhawayn
University at Ifrane, Morocco, seeks applications for a full-time
faculty position in Anthropology at the rank of Associate or Assistant
Professor beginning in Fall 1996. This position involves teaching graduate
courses in Folklore and Oral Literature Studies, in Islamic Studies, and in
Mediterranean Anthropology. It also involves contributing to the
development and delivery of multidisciplinary Social Science undergraduate
courses geared towards current, preferably Moroccan, issues, such as
Moroccan Women and Development, for example. It thus requires, beyond the
mastery of the subject matter of Anthropology, the ability to participate in
the training of students in Social Science Methods, confirmed
interdisciplinary skills, and an interest in the Moroccan and Mediterranean
areas. The successful applicant will be expected to work as a team member,
primarily within the frame of the Division of Social Sciences of the School
of Humanities and Social Sciences. He/she will also be expected to
participate effectively in community activities involving the Division, the
School, and/or the University.
The position is offered on a one-year, renewable, basis as a 12-month
or 9-month contract. The teaching load is of three classes per semester,
plus one class to be taught during the Summer Session depending on the type
of contract.
Qualifications: PhD, or equivalent diploma plus proven mastery of the
English language, which is the language of instruction at Al Akhawayn
University.

Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The closing date for applications is 31 March 1996.
