The Social Science History Association is meeting in Chicago November
16-19 (same weekend as the AAA meetings). On the off chance that there is
someone out there in the Chicago area who is not planning to go to DC I am
sending this message. I have put together a panel titled "Bourdieu for
Historians". I need a chair for the session. The three papers are
"Bourdieu, History and Capital (Chris Wilkes, Soc/anthro and Lewis and
Clark); "Gendered Habitus and the Genesis of the New Danish Women's
Movement, 1970-1985 ) (Lynn Walter, Social Change and Development at
Wisconsin Green Bay); and "The Landscape of the Country" (about colonial
experience of settlers in New Zealand) by Chellen Mahar (Soc anthro,
Pacific). I have a discussant in John Hall, a sociologist at UC-Davis, but
I need the chair.

If you are interested, please email me asap with all your particulars,
title, affiliation, preferred mailing address, teelepone and fax numbers.

Thanks
