Dear Colleagues:

Over the years I have been impressed by the theoretical and
philosophical work of Maurice Bloch. Two essays in particular have
influenced my general orientation, "The Past in the Present," his
critique of social-cultural determinism a la Geertz or Sahlins, and the
more general essay "Cognition and Ideology." I would like to explore
some of the issues that he addresses with others who have been influenced
by Bloch (in either a positive or negative way). In particular I am
interested in his neo-Kantian framework.

Is there anyone out there on the net who has similar interests?

Yours,

But, as the world harmoniously confused:
Where order in variety we see,
And where, though all things differ, all agree
