As I replied privately to Rich's original question, a good book for undergrads
is The Anthropology of Art by Hatcher. An article which should be read with it
is the one which defined the field, Maquet's "Introduction to Aesthetic Anthrop
logy" For subfields within aesthetic anthro, good undergrad texts are Merriam'
s Anthropology of Music and Royce's The Anthropology of Dance, both a bit long
n the tooth now, but still good.
